In April 2017 we led an expedition to Knights Ferry, California. Founded in 1849, Knights Ferry features ruins of the Tulloch Flour Mill and the longest covered bridge west of the Mississippi. It is located just off of highway 120/108 about 40 miles east of Modesto on the Stanislaus River.

Because we plan to travel to many areas where cell phone coverage will be limited or nonexistent we have added a Delorme InReach Explorer satellite emergency communicator to our new Toyota 4Runner Trail that we've fondly named "Black Beauty". With it, we now have two-way satellite communications at all times.
